Often when developing our individual skills it is possible to codify value creation for others into a unique product or service. It might be another hamburger, but it is our take on the hamburger that makes it unique. Creating value for others is the second tier of Spiritual Growth and Development. The entrepreneur sees one of two things, how a value proposition takes an ordinary experience to an extraordinary level, or how to take the production of an ordinary experience to an extraordinary level.

Entrepreneurs are special thinkers. They have developed their empathy for others to such an extent that they spend a lot of time thinking of ways to make their lives and the lives of others better. They think and see outside the box (of the status quo) always looking for a way to make an improvement. Small criticisms and innovations clutter their thought processes. Every now and then they stumble across an idea that is a value proposition because it makes a "leap" from the status quo to a new way of thinking, or acting.

They have ownership of this new value proposition and experiment with prototypes and means of production until they hit upon a method they can make work, producing this new result time after time. What they often fail to realize is, that their personal interest in producing the result is an invisible "secret ingredient" in creating the outcome. As popularity for their product or service expands, the entrepreneur has difficulty in expanding the process to consistently produce the same result.

When they hire additional people, they are now trying to create a franchise prototype that can produce their result, but the skills needed to pull this off are a third set of skills, business leader skills.

Empathy is the Key to Entrepreneurship

Bestselling author, political adviser and social and ethical prophet Jeremy Rifkin investigates the evolution of empathy and the profound ways that it has shaped our development and our society in The Empathic Civilisation.
