Be careful what you think about yourself, much of it could be illusion. However the results we get in relationships with others provides tangible evidence of who we really are. This is why eternal value, relationships, education (in nature, culture and self, or things we can take with us when we die) are worth so much more than temporal value (time, money, status, which are things we can't.) Creating eternal value earns us peace, while earning temporal value only provides comfort. This is why so many rich people aren't happy and why so many small business owners want help in learning how to lead their people, so that they enjoy their jobs, products, services and customers. To quote one small business owner, "I'm earning a lot of money, but the people who work for me, all hate me!"

This is simply a matter of maturity. When we are young we have to take advantage of others to get our needs met. We just don't possess the skills or resources  we need. As we mature, we learn to create advantage for others, by creating Value Models that provide a product or service. This is very rewarding and fun and why entrepreneurship is what most people are drawn to. But most Value Models eventually have to be turned into a franchise prototype, which means a business that we can turn completely over to other people and they would be able to produce the same result. A franchise prototype is a profitable small business that can be sold for money, but it works because of the quality of relationships of the employees due to a developed set of systems contained in the Standardized Information Structure. Understanding how healthy relationships are built is the key to creating successful businesses.

Look around in our society, businesses all over take advantage of people in order to make their profits. As they do that they tear down the value of the relationships they have with each customer, until the customers move on to a different business to meet their needs. Sustainable businesses understand they must continue to grow their relationships with employees, suppliers, investors and customers. It is these relationships that define the overall value of the business, not the amount of money the business currently has in its bank accounts, or the stock value. When a buyer comes to value a business, they are looking at the probable stream of income over the long term, which is the lasting relationships.
